“Course Camarguaise” in Pernes…

What we could translate as the “Camargue run” is a very fun, lively and traditional event to spend with family. They are organized several times during late spring and summer, in the arenas of Pernes-Les Fontaines, at only 5Km from us. This is a bloodless spectacle (for the bulls at least) in which the objective is to snatch (with a small hook) a rosette from the head of a young bull. The participants are the “raseteurs”, begin training in their early teens against young bulls from the Camargue region of Provence. Two teams will try at the time to get as many rosettes (“cocarde“) for pride (and money?). They need to to be very agile to jump and be very, very fast…

2018 events: April 28th at 3 PM, May 13th at 4 PM and June 15th at 4PM.
